Behavioral Addiction

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

James 5:15 KJV

Another word for addiction is “enslavement.” Those who are addicted to a substance or behavior are enslaved. It is difficult, and sometimes impossible to overcome those addictions through willpower alone.

Addictions come in many forms. Substance abuse is one main form of addiction. Some people are addicted to tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, medications, or other forms of addictive substances.

Unfortunately, substance abuse is only one form of addiction. Other addictions include detrimental activities and behaviors such as gambling, excessive working, pornography, over-eating, or even internet addiction. These activities are also known as behavioral addictions.

In addiction counseling, we help individuals overcome their addictions through using whatever method is best for them, whether it’s psychotherapy, improving self-care habits, hypnosis, or other techniques. We work individually with our clients to find the best path for them for their road to recovery. Though it can be a long process, we believe that through God’s help everyone has the capacity to be stronger than their addiction.
